My ramblings

Quick update

Filed under: Life, Me, fatness — Lance at 7:44 pm on Monday, March 10, 2008

I haven’t updated really updated in about two weeks. It is time for a bulleted list.

  • I started my new job. Still trying to grasp things but I am sure it will lock into place soon.
    • It is strange commuting to work after six months of not doing any commuting and two and a half years of having about a five minute drive or twenty minute walk to work
  • We got a new car. It is slightly used but still in very nice condition.
    • I am going to be driving it more than Jen which means she is driving the Jimmy. I think she feels sad about this but I have further to drive and gas isn’t getting cheaper.
  • We haven’t got rid of my wife’s old car yet. I am seriously wondering if it is worth the goofing around or if it should just be driven into a donation lot and given away.
  • My Dad came down to visit. Jen was really sick that weekend. It was a lot of fun hanging out with him and going to old places we used to go to when I was younger.
  • We inherited another case of wine. Amazing how it accumulates.
  • I haven’t been drinking much since I have actively started losing weight.
    • I am now down to 225ish. Still sounds bad but consider:
      • In 2002, when I started this journal, I was over 230.
      • When I got married in 2005, I was at 245.
      • When I moved last July (2007), I was at 255.
    • So, I am feeling much better but I need to continue down. I am hoping to be at 210 (or less) by the beginning of July.
  • I have been feeling rather sleepless. It isn’t a lot of fun.
  • Trips planned:
    • Indianapolis (April)
    • Vegas (late June)
    • Alaska (September?)
  • I am startling productive recently. I haven’t been watching much TV but I also really haven’t updated my blogs much because I’ve been working a bunch.

That’s it!

An exciting Friday night coming up

Filed under: Jen, Life, not teh funny — Lance at 10:45 am on Thursday, February 14, 2008

I know many of you wonder what exciting things I do on Friday nights. Well, it is a mish-mash of VIP parties, suite level tickets to sporting events, and this Friday, I’ll be spending it in an expensive, exclusive room overlooking Portland.

Jen is having surgery Friday morning on the hill and apparently they are keeping her overnight for observation. Of course, Jen told me “If you want to go out Friday, you should.” What the hell am I going to tell people when they ask about my wife? “Yeah, she’s in the hospital.” Talk about being a terrible husband. I would probably end up getting punched in the face.

Granted hospitals are boring and it sucks spending time there, I am still going to do it. So if you are up in the VIP wondering where I was, now you’ll know.

I don’t have any plans for Valentine’s day. Do you?

In other news, I think that it is official: lolcats have jumped the shark. There were obvious indicators of it already jumping the shark but I think a lolcat BIBLE is where the good stuff ends.

Old blogs, bad memories, but all is still well

This is probably boring to most of you…and it is a 3am post so you know it probably isn’t going to make a ton of sense. (Read on …)

Any time now…

2007 can go away at any time now.

This has been, on the balance, a pretty crummy year emotionally, a good year professionally and about a flat year physically. My grandma on my mom’s side is very bad now, to the point where almost everyone in our huge family is coming into town over the next couple days. This is by no means a surprise, she has been going downhill for years and years. It still stinks, especially in a year that has been hard on all of our grandparents.

Anyway, I am ready for a better 2008. I have a couple resolutions but I don’t really feel like sharing :-)

See you all in 08!

Thanksgiving weekend

Filed under: Life, Pictures — Lance at 9:35 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2007

We had a great thanksgiving weekend. It started at my grandparents and ended with a quiet night at home tonight. In between then, we went through the Columbia River Gorge and stayed three nights. It was an anniversary present to ourselves and a well needed break from the craziness of life. Here are some pictures we took:

Plans for thanksgiving

Filed under: Life, Pictures — Lance at 1:26 pm on Monday, November 19, 2007

This Wednesday, I get to hang with some guy called “Burkman.” I was trying to remember the last time I saw him in person and I thought it was a long time ago but apparently, it was Nigel’s law school graduation. So the last time I saw Burkman, we were in Texas and we went to BBQ. I don’t think I can hope to top that.

Thursday is family time. This is actually going to be the smallest family gathering in the history of family gatherings I think. Grandparents, aunt, parents and us. My family can’t go anywhere without at least ten people in tow so this is significant.

Thursday afternoon/evening, we are heading to the Columbia River Gorge for a retreat from normal life and responsibility. This is our anniversary get away too so we are excited to have no agenda whatsoever.

Here are some pictures we took last weekend on the way and at Pittock Mansion:
